THE BLACK WATTLE BIOCONTROL AGENT:

The release time for Dasineura rubiformis starts NOW !!! (July 2017)
It’s a midge that prevents black wattle from setting seed.  It has taken off like a rocket in release sites and is fast becoming one of the most important aspects of black wattle control.

Volunteers urgently needed - 15 July 2017

A Japanese tour group visited the GR Botanical Garden in July 2015 when they planted 50 trees and conducted a fascinating ceremony. At the bottom of the hole for the trees, envelopes were placed and the ceremony leader drove a wooden stakes into the ground with Japanese writing on them. The envelopes and stakes were messages of goodwill to their friends and families and on a commemorative stone the words "Our hope is for worldwide peace, harmony and prosperity" were engraved.
