Competition: Build a Cardboard Chair

A fun packed competition will be held during National Science Week to test the technological, engineering and mathematical skills of budding young engineers and designers between the ages of 17 and 20 years old. Entry is free but an ID document or birth certificate must be shown at the door. A maximum of 50 entrants will be accommodated per venue.

National Science Week is an annual countrywide celebration of science that aims to promote science and raise greater awareness of the importance of science and technology in today’s world. The emphasis is on fun to encourage learners to choose maths and science as school subjects and as careers later in life.

Voting starts at 12:00 on WEDNESDAY, the 17th of JUNE 2015 at the Moriarty Environmental Centre No. 49 Caledon Street, lasting until 17:00.

The AGM & GRBG Information Evening will commence at 17:00 for 17:30, to be held in the Voortrekker Hall in Caledon Street (Opposite Botanical Garden), George.

Priscilla Burgoyne, new curator of the Southern Cape Herbarium,  did a presentation on invasive alien plants in our garden on Wednesday, 3 June 2015.   Lively discussion from all the people that came out on the cold and wintery night.
