SOLAR BUDDY LANTERNS... The Perfect Gift

Eskom has announced that they are going to struggle to keep our lights on this winter...
But fortunately that will not be a problem for you as you can purchase a Solar Buddy Lantern at the Garden Route Botanical Garden.

The George parkrun will launch on Saturday, 5 April 2014

Parkrun is international, it started off in the UK and the world joined in.  ‘parkrun’ is always spelled with a small letter ‘p’. There is currently 25+ parkrun events in SA.

The story will be centred on a pair of Egyptian Geese who have tried unsuccessfully for many years to rear a brood of goslings only to lose them to predators when they are only a few days old. This year the resourceful parents made a nest in a nearby garden and hatched eight youngsters.

What a stunning Christmas present to see this beautiful flower in full bloom all over town. We see them in blue and in white, tall and small, although almost all the varieties are cultivars of A. praecox.

As usual the staff and volunteers of the Garden Route Botanical Gardens have been hard at work. Here are some of the things that have been keeping us busy.

The Num num is one of our well-known and wonderful indigenous species. I believe this to be a versatile plant for most gardens. It has scented star-shape flowers which are both beautiful and attract insects, it has delicious edible fruit that attract birds to the garden, it does wonderfully as a hedge plant, and makes excellent bonsai. The Num num is a medium to large shrub, mostly they attain up to three meters in height, there are many different cultivars including prostrate varieties.

Without the help of volunteers & sponsors, our jobs here @ the gardens would be overwhelming!

So here are 5 ways you can get involved:
