Geese in the Gardens Competition

Tuesday, 01 April 2014 09:47

The story will be centred on a pair of Egyptian Geese who have tried unsuccessfully for many years to rear a brood of goslings only to lose them to predators when they are only a few days old. This year the resourceful parents made a nest in a nearby garden and hatched eight youngsters.

Eventually, after several weeks, the owner of the garden contacted someone at the Gardens to ask them to fetch the geese. The small family were then herded along the roads to reach the Gardens and its dam. This time it looks as though most of the brood will make it to adulthood. The intention is that the story will be a way to showcase the Gardens and be educational at the same time.
